Mr. Garza has lived in his one story, wood frame house in South Union since 1999. He’s an upbeat man who sees the bright side of things, so he loves the house, despite having no water heater, no kitchen cabinets, no functioning commode, no sheetrock walls or ceiling, and having a leaking roof and missing windows. He desperately needs help since he can't afford to fix these things himself.
Mr. Garza spent five years in the US Army and six years in the Reserves. He started as an Artilleryman, then transferred to a position as Fireman. He was deployed overseas to Bosnia for Operation Just Force. After devoting 11 years of service to his country, Mr. Garza reached out for help to repair his home.
He contacted numerous agencies to make the needed repairs on his home, with no success. Through all this he remained hopeful, which was finally rewarded when he reached Rebuilding Together. We are working with our contractors to make repairs so his home is safe and livable, all at no cost to him. Then this fall, volunteers will finish improvements.
