Ms. Melo in Second Ward

East End Community Revitalization, fall 2021

Rebuilding Together remains committed to helping families in the East End stay safe and healthy in their homes. One of our neighbors, Ms. Melo, has lived in her Second Ward home for almost 40 years and needed our help to bring her home back to a safe and livable condition.

Rebuilding Together brought in contractors to complete structural repairs earlier this year. This was free of charge to Ms. Melo, thanks to a grant from Wells Fargo Bank.

On September 25, volunteers from the East End Chamber of Commerce (EECOC) and Whitewall Construction came out to complete exterior repairs and paint her home, part of their celebration of 30 years giving back to the East End. It was the first project of our fall 2021 Volunteer Home Repair Program (VHRP).

Volunteers included EECOC President Frances Dyess, Jaime Salinas of White Wall Construction, and Rebuilding Together Houston CEO Christine Holland, who serves on the EECC Board of Directors.
