Ms. Cruz has bad knees and struggles to get around her Second Ward home without support. Her mother is wheelchair bound and has not been able to visit.
Rebuilding Together previously helped Ms. Cruz by installing grab bars and replacing her tub with a low curb shower. We also completed repairs to the siding of the home and provided smoke alarms and emergency flashlights, making her home more secure.
When Ms. Cruz needed help once again, she knew she could count on us.
Thanks to our partner Houston Methodist, who generously contributed to our Safe and Sound Services program, we were able to return to her home and construct a wheelchair ramp at no cost to her. Now Ms. Cruz can feel safe when entering and exiting her home, and her mother can visit anytime she wants.
