Rising Together 2026
Rebuilding Together Houston was proud to host our 4th Annual Rising Together celebration during Black History Month, bringing together volunteers, community leaders, and partners to honor the importance of preserving Black homeownership. This year, we celebrated Marine Veteran Earnest Spencer and his wife, Janice, who have called their Windsor Village home their own for nearly 50 years. Their home reflects a lifetime of family memories, community connections, and the legacy of Black homeownership in Houston.
With the generous support of Presenting Sponsor, bp, Rebuilding Together Houston completed critical repairs to help the Spencer family remain safely in their home, including a roof replacement, electrical and plumbing upgrades, new flooring, and accessibility improvements. Volunteers joined us during the event to complete the final exterior touches. We are also grateful to our media partners, Radio One, CW39, and FOX 26 for helping share the Spencer family's story and highlight the importance of safe and healthy housing.
Rising Together serves as a reminder that preserving homes helps preserve history. By investing in longtime homeowners, we strengthen neighborhoods, support aging in place, and honor the generations of families who have helped shape our communities. Thank you to bp and all our partners, volunteers, and supporters who helped make this year's celebration possible.
Rising Together 2025
Rebuilding Together Houston hosted its 3rd Annual Rising Together celebration in honor of Black History Month. Sponsored by bp, the event highlighted longtime Third Ward homeowner Ms. Cosezetta Graham, whose home and story reflect the strength and history of one of Houston’s most historic communities. Volunteers, supporters, and community members gathered to celebrate the impact of safe and healthy housing, while Trill Burgers contributed to the event with a food donation. FOX 26 helped share her story and highlight the importance of preserving homeownership, strengthening neighborhoods, and ensuring Houston families can continue building their legacies at home.
