Homeowner Relationships

The homeowner you are assisting has been qualified to receive repairs based on a rigorous application process (see more here), and has been visited by a Rebuilding Together Houston staff member who has walked the homeowner through the volunteer portion of their repair work.

We encourage crews to assign one key volunteer to interact with the homeowner to minimize fears and to show interest in their well-being. If your volunteers visit and get to know the homeowner in advance of completing repair work, it will help to make their experience--and your crew's--that much more rewarding.

A final note: friends and family members of homeowners are encouraged to help crews in working on their loved ones home. Please welcome these friends and family members as a part of your crew and guide and direct them just as you would any other crew member.
