Sept. 18-19, 2015 – To her CenterPoint Energy volunteer crew, she warned: "I won’t let you leave without giving you a hug!" Clara Bower is a lovely, warm-hearted person Clara Bowerwho is quiet at first, but is full of smiles and conversation after she starts talking about her home and family.

VolunteersShe and her husband bought their south Houston home in 1968, where they raised their two children, until her husband and daughter passed away in 1999 and 2000.

Feeling disheartened and lost, she thought of returning to Brazoria County for the rest of life. However, she wanted to remain in Houston to be close to her son, a Harris County Sheriff, and her three grandsons, who visit their grandmother (and her kitchen) regularly. She could not leave; as she said, "I raised my family here." Ms. Bower is truly grateful for the opportunity presented by Rebuilding Together Houston and her Volunteer Home Repair Crew from CenterPoint Energy.
