Homeowner Linda Lewis (in photo above) talks about her Rebuilding Together experience with volunteers from Houston's Alley Theater.
Everyone deserves a safe and healthy home.
That vision guides Rebuilding Together Houston in its mission to restore hope and revitalize neighborhoods through the repair and renovation of homes in our city’s most economically-challenged communities. Through the work of dedicated volunteers and the financial and in-kind support of community partners, we seek to preserve the dignity of our aging population and build a brighter future for our city.
Rebuilding Together Houston works both inside and outside the home to provide essential restoration and modification to structures that frequently are 50, 60, 70 years old...and older. Using both volunteer assistance and the expertise of licensed contractors, we strive to address exterior and interior risks that might affect the well being of those we serve.
We address a wide variety of home concerns: from plumbing and electrical infrastructure and roof integrity, to accessibility and safety issues. Through the investment of resources--financial, technical and direct provision of services--to disadvantaged households, Rebuilding Together provides stabilization and revitalization of distressed neighborhoods as well as the preservation of affordable housing in these low-income communities.
Since 1982, Rebuilding Together Houston has invested more than $55 million in this worthwhile proposition and enlisted the assistance of more than 115,000 volunteers of all ages and from all walks of life.
